Cornwall (19) beat Shropshire (5) by one wicket. Both sides deducted 2pts for slow over rates.

The only previous time Cornwall’s last pair got over the line in a 2/3 day match was 1925! Cornwall were 98-7 in reply to Shropshire’s first innings of 286-7dec with former professional Graham Wagg making 143. Christian Purchase hit 67 and Ben Ellis 56 to get up to 225. After being set 271 in the last two sessions at 86-6  the game looked to have gone. However, Purchase hit a superb 111, supported by Dan Lello (33) and Ben Ellis (29)  before it came down to the last pair of Tom Dinnis and Ellis Whiteford to add a crucial 25 runs.

It was the ninth meeting at the venue with 3 wins each and two draws previously. Overall Shropshire has won 5 and drawn 1 in recent times with Cornwall's last success in 2011!

Day 2 was the 40th anniversary to the day of the first Minor Counties Championship match to be staged at Wheal Eliza - 25/26 July 1982 v Dorset - Match Drawn with current Club President Eric Willcock making 130no in the second innings.
