On the opening day of Cornwall’s Unicorns Counties game with Herefordshire at Colwall yesterday Herefordshire were bowled out for 289 with two wickets for Matt Rowe, Nathan Pobega and Andrew Libby.

 

Cornwall found it slow going in reply reaching 45 for 3 at stumps losing Matt Rowe and night-watchman Piran Kent just before the close.

Play continues at 11 am this morning.

 

Elsewhere yesterday there were three games in County Division One of the LWC Drinks Cornwall League.

Leaders Helston beat St Erme by 150 runs, Rosudgeon are second after beating Newquay by 135 runs and Lanhydrock won at Beacon by 35 runs.

Beacon – Lanhydrock 283-8 (T Trethewey 111, J King 82, C Rogers 27, J Thomas 3-25, D Dowling 2-46, D Thurgood 2-46), Beacon 248 (D Eathorne 81no, D Dowling 47, G Mankee 20, T Trethewey 4-32, J King 2-34). Lanhydrock (20 points) beat Beacon (nine) by 35 runs.

Helston – 348-9 (C Martin 111, S Wiseman 73, T Excell 47, E Koekemoer 27, B Bury 24no, extras 58; S Townsend 4-99, M Pearson 3-79), St Erme 198 (Liam Lombard 81, K Van Rooyen 27, T Bunt 24; B Bury 3-25, S Wiseman 2-4, S Jenkin 2-30, E Koekemoer 2-39). Helston (20 points) beat St Erme (eight) by 150 runs.

Division 6 East

Callington- Callington (20 points) beat Grampound Road (-10 points). Grampound Road conceded.

 

Roche lost their National Village Cup tie at North Perrott by five wickets after being bowled out for 158.

and Cornwall Women beat Wiltshire by 8 wickets  card but lost to Devon by 83 runs card in T20 games at  Heathcoat CC, Tiverton.
