Season set for a delayed start

10th April 2018 Posted in County and Latest and League by Michael Weeks

The extremely wet weather of recent months is having an effect on the start of the Cornish Cricket season.

Cornwall CCC were due to play two days of warm up matches this weekend but both have been cancelled. The fifty over game against Somerset seconds at Taunton Vale on Saturday and Sunday’s T20 games at Bristol University have both been called off due to ground conditions. Indoor nets sessions at the Cornwall Cricket Centre are planned for Saturday.

The LWC Drinks Cornwall Cricket League season is also set to be put back for a number of clubs.

Having carried out a survey of all clubs the League has moved en bloc the five Premier League games from Saturday 21 April to August Bank Holiday Monday 27 August.

Home Clubs in Divisions 1 to 5 may mutually agree to reschedule their April 21 games for a spare Bank Holiday Monday May 7 or August 27 or any Sunday if wished. Clubs have until this Sunday (15th) to decide otherwise the default fixture day of 21st April will stand, whatever the weather.
