Three-way tie at the top of the Premier as Penzance lose, Truro abandoned and Werrington win
The LWC Drinks Cornwall Premier League has taken another direction with Werrington joining Penzance and Truro at the top of the table. All three teams are tied on 211 points with six games to play.
Leaders Penzance lost a remarkable home game with Redruth by 31 runs. Redruth recovered from 10 for 4 to make 179 for 8 in 30 overs. Will Harris made 86 after Tommy Sturgess took 5 for 32. Penzance were all out for 148 with 17 balls remaining.
Truro’s home game with St Just only saw 14 overs played before rain caused an abandonment. St Just were 34 for 2 at the time.
Werrington took full advantage with a 74 run win over Wadebridge. Paul Smith made 95 in Werrington’s 260 for 6 in a 35 over game. Wadebridge replied with 186 for 7.
Grampound Road beat Camborne by 42 runs in a low scoring game. The Road made 102 all out with Camborne dismissed for just 60.
The St Austell against Falmouth game was called off at 2pm with the ground too wet for play.
In County Division One the only completed game was at Gorran who made 220 for 7 with Troon 160 all out in reply.
Launceston scored 235 at Helston, who responded with 74 for 4 when the game was abandoned.
The games at Beacon, Lanhydrock and Redruth were cancelled.
The Roche versus St Erme game was played earlier in the season.
Today Penzance’s Vitality T20 Area semi-final at Exmouth has been postponed due to the weather along with Cornwall Over Fifties last 16 tie with Oxfordshire at Grampound Road and the Clive Rosevear Cup Finals Day at Gorran.
