Just one point now between Penzance and Truro at the top of the Premier League and there was a dramatic day in County 1.

The race for the LWC Drinks Cornwall Premier League is hotting up with just one point now separating Penzance and Truro, after both won yesterday.


There was a dramatic finish at Falmouth where Penzance won by two wickets off the final ball of the match, thanks to a dropped catch resulting in the two runs required for victory.


Falmouth made 211 for 7 with Grant Stone making 86.

Penzance reached 212 for 8  after Jonny Ludlam and Charlie Goldsworthy added a match winning 46 for the ninth wicket.



Truro won by five wickets at Wadebridge after the home side were dismissed for 158. Sam Naughton made 65. Adrian Noott batted throughout the Truro innings to see them home with 49 not out.


Grampound Road won by four wickets at Redruth after the home side were all out for 186. Ravindra Karunarathna made 102 not out in the Road’s 190 for 6.


Callington were bowled out for 168 at St Just who responded with 169 for 6, to win by four wickets.



There was plenty of dramatic action in County Division 1 where leaders Helston lost their unbeaten record, by nine wickets at Werrington. However most of the other games went down to the wire.


The results were:

Helston 77 all out lost to Werrington 78 for 1


Troon 189 for 6 tied with Beacon 189 all out


Rosudgeon 225 all out beat Lanhydrock 221 all out by 4 runs


Newquay 177 all out beat Roche 171 all out by 6 runs.


Gorran 294 for 7 lost to St Erme 295 for 6 by 4 wickets


Redruth 362 for 7 beat Launceston 116 all out


Today Cornwall start a 3 day Unicorns Counties Championship game with Wiltshire at St Austell at 11am with free entry at Wheal Eliza..


In the Cornwall Women’s League the games are:


Falmouth v Truro,  Launceston v Penzance and  Redruth v Grampound Road  at 2pm
