NCCA Season Update

1st May 2020 Posted in Coronavirus and County Club and Latest by Michael Weeks

Launch, New Website and Social Media

I would like to thank you for helping with the launch of the new NCCA branding, website and social media. I have seen a number of news articles and social media posts on county websites and various social platforms.

T20 and One Day Trophy Competitions

Following the recent announcement from the ECB that the first-class season will be delayed till at least the 1st July and recreational cricket is suspended until further notice, I wanted to send a brief update.

As per my previous email about the postponement of the T20 tournament, the One Day Trophy will fall into the same category.

Please note this is a postponement and not a cancellation. The reason to make that clear is we want to ensure that if/when we get the green light to play some cricket this summer, we have all formats available to select from to restructure the season ensuring we make the most of whatever remains.

There are a huge number of variables that go along with this scenario. Until we know more about a potential start date and season length, we can’t comment further but for your information, there will be a meeting of the NCCA Review Group via conference call on 5th May and this will be followed a few days later by a Board Meeting of NCCA via Zoom.

Showcase Games

Although the dates of the showcase games aren’t directly impacted by the season suspension, it is looking unlikely that the games will take place on the original dates in July. We remain hopeful that we will be able to play these fixtures at some stage in the restructured season.

Thanks,

Richard Logan
