Helston Cricket Club Reunion Match

13th August 2019 Posted in League by Michael Weeks

To celebrate one hundred seasons of league cricket at Helston, they are having a reunion game on Sunday 18 August involving many past players.

Several of the 1990 Vinter Cup-winning team will be playing alongside lots of other players from that era.

The game coincides with a visit from Simon Wherry who now lives in Canada, who will captain one side, the other will be skippered by Matt Crapp.

It will be a 30 over game starting at 2 pm.

They invite all ex-players, members and supporters as well as opponents from the past, to exchange stories from years gone by over a beer.

There will be a bbq all day.

Along with Troon Cricket Club 2019 is the 100th season of League cricket at Helston.

They were founder members and the first winners in 1905.

Only Camborne and Penzance, continuous members since 1905, have played more seasons.

This is their 103rd season.

The League was suspended 1915-19 and 1940-45.
