2018 – A great summer for CRICKET and one during which we played almost 150 matches – a record.

As an Association we are so grateful for the commitment of all our parents, managers and coaches in order to fulfil this wonderful programme. Thank you!

As usual, we start our awards with our youngest side – the Under Ten team.  This is a team brimming with talent and I am confident that this will be a team to watch for the future. The first award is the Bowling award and it goes LEWIS STEPHENS.

The next award is the Batting Award and it goes to a talented player with a rich family history in sport in Cornwall – ELLIS MAY.

The final award is an All Rounder – BRYN EVANS .

Next we come to the Under Eleven team. In this age group we have our first special award to make. These special awards are the match balls actually used in the games where a player has scored a century or taken 5 wickets.

The first special award goes to TOM FOX DEAN for 5 wickets for 30  runs against Dorset.

There are four awards for this team – the Bowling Award goes to TOM FOX-DEAN.

The Batting Award goes to – SUNSHINE OSMONT.

The All Rounder Award goes to BEN ALFORD and the final award is a Most Improved Player Award which goes to  WILF BARTLETT.

And now to the Under Twelve team where there is a special award to make to BILLY TAYLOR  for his innings of 111 not out against California  (at the Kings Festival!).

The  Batting Award in this age group goes to BILLY TAYLOR.

We have one Special Award to make in this team. This goes to MAX JENKIN for 5 wickets for 32 runs against Leicestershire at Kings College.

The Under Fourteen team had a tough season playing matches against some of the best teams in the country. They performed so well in the regional ECB championship that they will be playing in the top group at Under 15 level next year.  Unfortunately, their Kings Festival was bedevilled by a host of injuries including things like broken fingers and ankles!! The Batting Award for the team goes to JOE PHILLIPS and the Bowling Award goes once again to HARRY STANDEN.  The All Rounder Award goes BEN COSTON.

There are 4 Special Awards for this age group. The first two go to the same player for two centuries at the Kings Festival – an innings of 107 against Northants and an even better score of 110 not out against Kent – JOE PHILLIPS.  The next special award goes to a player who scored 117 against Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan – HARRY PHILLIPS.  The final special award goes to a player who scored 110 against Dorset – TAYLOR GERRY.

The Girls Under Fifteen team had another good season. The Bowling Award for the Girls Under 15 team goes to SOPHIE HOOPER. The Manager’s Award for the most improved player goes to DANIELLE ALLBURY and finally the Batting Award goes to an outstanding young cricketer REBECCA ODGERS.

The season for the boys Under Fifteen team began with their enjoyable tour of the Caribbean at Easter visiting Trinidad and Barbados. The Batting Award for the Under 15 team goes to ALEX BARRETT and the Bowling Award goes to CONNOR COOKE.

There are 3 special awards – all for bowling performances. The first is for 5 wickets for 19 runs against Dorset – ALEX BARRETT. The other two special awards go to the same player for performances of 5 for 23 against the Isle of Wight and 5 for 33 against East Devon – CONNOR COOKE.

The Girls Under Seventeen team had a good season and many will be available again next year. They also started with a very enjoyable trip to South Africa in February. The Bowling Award for the Girls Under 17 team goes again to ELLIE MITCHELL. The Team Award goes to AMBER CUMMINS and finally the Batting Award goes to a very talented cricketer – REBECCA ODGERS.

There is one special award to make for an amazing innings of 104 not out against Tswane University on that South African Tour by ELLIE MITCHELL.

Our Under Seventeen team had another good season – only the weather robbed them of qualifying for the final of the  ECB cup.  There are four special Awards – 3 of which are for Batting and all go to the same player! For his scores of 117 against Dorset, 129 against Wiltshire and 188 against the Isle of Wight – SAM WYATT.  The other special award is for 5 wickets for 45 runs against Dorset by  CHARLIE KENT.

The Batting Award for this team goes to SAM WYATT, the Bowling Award is made to CHARLIE KENT and finally the Team Award is made to JOSH MOSES.

And so to our Long Service Awards.  These are made to boys who have represented Cornwall in at least 6 age groups over at least 6 years and have come to the end of their careers with CSCA.  Long Service Awards go to:  WILL TRENOWETH – 2011 – 2018, MATT LELLO – 2010 – 2017, SAM WYATT – 2010 – 2018 and finally  KARL LEATHLEY who first played in 2009!

The first of our Perpetual awards is the Jimmy Richards Trophy which is awarded to the “outstanding player” on the South Africa Tour – as chosen by the other players in the team – JACK OLDLAND.

The Edgarley Award for the best fielder in the Under 13 Team goes to HARRY GREGORY.

The Jack Richards Trophy is awarded to the most promising wicketkeeper in any CSCA team. We are delighted that Jack has joined us tonight – the first time for some 30 years and I am going to ask him to present his award – it goes to a player who this summer has played alongside Jack for Falmouth Cricket Club – from our Under Fifteen team – AIDAN CARTER.

Eddie Byrom, Tom Abell, Aidan Carter & Jack Richards

The One and All shield is awarded to the player with the best individual bowling performance of 2018 and for her spectacular figures of 5 wickets for just 11 runs against Dorset Under 15 – SOPHIE HOOPER.

Sam Wyatt & Eddie Byrom

The Laura Harper Cup for the Outstanding Girls Cricketer of the year is awarded to a player who played in the Under 15 team, the Under 17 team and also the full Women’s team, scoring over 1000 runs and is an outstanding prospect –  REBECCA ODGERS.

Rebecca Odgers & Tom Abell

Our final award is the Ted Collins Cup which is awarded each year to the Outstanding Boys cricketer of the year. It goes to a player who performed so well for our Under 17 Team and he also played for the full Cornwall Minor Counties side – surely a player with a wonderful future in the game – SAM WYATT.

Sam Wyatt & Tom Abell

We have two more awards to make this evening – not to players but to two long-standing officials who both after many years of coaching and organising county teams have decided to take a break.  Fortunately, we hope that they will both continue their work for CSCA and we all very much hope they will return to working with county squads in the not too distant future:

After some 11 years as a coach – CRAIG RICHARDS

Craig Richards & Tom Abell

And after 15 years as a coach and manager – TIM MARRION

Tim Marrion & Tom Abell
