Truro – Cornwall 189-8 (GS Smith 35, TG Sturgess 32, CBF Purchase 22, CD Lello 22no, MH Rowe 20; SR Croft 2-35, GT Park 2-41) beat

Buckinghamshire 154 (DL Marles 46, TRG Hampton 33, GA Russell 28; TJ Dinnis 3-31, TJ Wells 2-13, TG Sturgess 2-19, LP Goldsworthy 2-37) by 35 runs.

Quarter Final – Berkshire away on Sunday 30 June

Cornwall elected to bat but quickly lost Lewis Goldsworthy at the end of the second over. That became 42-3 in 12 overs with Tom Rowe and brother Matt (20) following. Hopes of a really big total took a blow when Christian Purchase went for 22 and Tom Wells and Scott Harvey could only manage six runs between them. Cornwall were 91-6 with fifteen overs to go. Greg Smith found a partner in James Turpin and the pair added 36 for the seventh wicket before Smith was run out for 35. Turpin followed for 19 but Cornwall bat deep and an unbroken ninth-wicket stand effectively was the difference between the teams. Tommy Sturgess made 32 not out off 26 balls and Dan Lello 22 not out off 18 balls to give the innings a crucial late boost. They added 52 in the closing six overs to give the home side momentum. Garry Park and Stephen Croft took two wickets each. The Bucks innings got off to the worst of starts as the in-form Conrad Louth was bowled by Tom Dinnis fourth ball. Dinnis (3-31) and Sturgess (2-19) reduced the visitors to 31-5 after ten overs. Goldsworthy took the important wicket of former first-class player Garry Park and at 56-6 it looked ‘job done’. However, Tom Hampton (33) went onto the attack but after hitting Goldsworthy (2-37) for 16 off three balls the slow left-armer had him caught behind with the next ball. Dan Marles (46) and George Russell (28) put on 46 for the eighth wicket to give concerns but Wells picked up two late wickets as the last three fell for 13 runs.  Harvey took five catches behind the stumps.

The sides last met at Truro in 2012 in the Minor Counties Championship Final scorecard
