Welcome to the Cornwall Cricket Coaches home page. In this section of our website we will help you to:

  • Understand the ECB Coach Education pathway
  • Understand the ECB Coach Education courses
  • Identify which course might be right for you
  • Complete an application to attend an ECB Coach Education course in Cornwall

Offering a quality Coach Education programme and opportunities for coaches to learn and develop is a big priority for Cornwall Cricket. At the moment there are hundreds of coaches working across the county at club, district and county level and there is a huge amount of support available to coaches at each of these levels.

The ECB Coach Education Pathway

The diagram shows the current Coach Education pathway for coaches. In Cornwall, we are responsible for delivering courses at the following levels within the above pathway:

  • Coach Support Environment courses
  • Cricket for Teachers courses
  • Certificate courses (UKCC2)
  • Modules

The following levels of the pathway are managed by the ECB:

  • Diploma
  • Performance coaching (UKCC3)
  • Elite coaching (UKCC4)

Other courses

On top of the ECB Coach Education pathway, Cornwall Cricket also delivers other courses relevant to coaches, including:

  • First Aid workshops
  • Child Protection workshops
  • Local Coach development workshops

ECB Coaches Association

Once you become a qualified coach you receive the opportunity to join the ECB Coaches Association and therefore the local branch The Cornwall Association of Cricket Coaches. The ECBCA is the professional body for coaches in England and Wales and offers some fantastic services. In Cornwall we are now encouraging all new coaches to join the ECBCA at the time of signing up to a new course.

As a qualifed coach there are great benefits to becoming a member of the ECB CA. For the cost of £30.00 (dd) or £37.00 (Cheque) annually you will get the following benefits.Join ECB CA now. If your DBS runs out then so does your membership!

Active Coaches DBS Checks

If you are an active coach or are a volunteering parent who works with minors (under 18s) or vulnerable adults on a regular basis you must hold a valid DBS check. To find out more or request a DBS check please contact your club who will organise a form for you.
