Match Reports

The boys have struggled in their first three games with tiredness, the heat and illness but are improving with each game. Notable perfomances are:

Waterkloof House Prep, Johannesburg: 30 over game
Alex Bone caught on the boundary edge for 18. Piran Kent unluckily run out at the non strikers end with the ball deflecting off the bowler for 17
after retiring for a spell in his innings with stomach cramps.
Max Walden batted very well for his 16 not out. Ellis Whiteford only notable bowler, taking 2-10.



The Ridge Prep School, Johannesburg: Timed game, each innings of 3hrs
Cornwall fielded exceptionally well in their 55 overs, all bowling much improved only bowling 9 wides, Piran Kent taking 3-48 with the batsman hitting out at the end
of the innings.Cornwall unlucky to lose opening bowler Luke Brenton after 4 overs with a back strain. Only notable batting oerformance was wicket keeper
Alex Bone run out for 27 and Piran Kent being caught on the boundary with 12, the other batter to reach double figures.



Maragon School, Johannesburg: 45 overs
Cornwall fielded very well on the biggest cricket field they will have seen in 34 degree heat, Alasdair Faull bowling well taking 3-38, Jacob Kitchen 2-34 and Tom Bailey
in his first bowling spell for Cornwall taking 2-14 in his 6 overs. Again Cornwall struggled with the bat, Luke Brenton looking very good scoring 18 off
just 14 balls before being stumped, Alex Bone again batting well scoring 17.

 

St Stithians, Johannesburg

Cornwall struggled to 67 for eight of 36 overs when the match was abandoned. Only Max Walden (14) and Alex Bone (10) reachd double figures.

 

St Stithians, Johannesburg 30 overs

In a 30 over game St Stithians reached 150 for three. Cornwall replied with 88 for eight. opener Alex Bone made 29 off 51 balls and Tom Orpe was 10 not out.

Jacob Kitchen took two for 29 as the home team's opener made 95 in their 210 for four. Cornwall reached 122-8 in reply with openers Piran kent making 30 and Tom Orpe 18. Luke Brenton folowed up with 21 nad George Bolland got 10.

 

Rondesbosch Prep, Cape Town 35 overs

Alasdair Faull took three for 35 and George Bolland two for 18 in the 162 for eight. In a disappointing reply Cornwall were dismissed for 63 with only number nine, Robbie Piper (10), getting double figures.

Still no wins unfortunately, The boys have been improving but not so good today. The Locals seem to think Tomorrow will be our best chance. Sunday maybe not so good.
Time will tell !!!  The lads (and Parents) having a great time tho, and are generally over their early sickness problems.
