Cornwall prepared for Sunday’s opening Unicorns Trophy game with Oxfordshire at Banbury with a 50 over white ball game against a strong Somerset seconds at Taunton Vale Sports Club on Easter Saturday. In a high scoring fixture there were some good performances from Cornwall’s younger players. James Turpin picked up five wickets costing 81 runs in a ten over spell. 16 year old Lewis Goldsworthy ended with one for 39 off ten overs. In the Cornwall innings Hayle’s Dan Lello looked the part making 64 on his senior debut. Werrington’s Mark Gribble made 20 in his first appearance. Cornwall were 224-6 in the 43rd over before leg spinner Max Waller trapped Lello lbw. He then swept away the tail to end with five for 39.
