Director of Finance
The Cornwall Cricket Board is the umbrella group for all cricket in Cornwall. We have an annual turnover of about £300k.
The past few years have seen the transformation of our finances from a deficit of £76k in 2014 to an expected surplus for the current year of over £25k. Our books are in good order.
We have also started a major fund-raising drive which has included Crowdfunder and Localgiving projects, as well as sponsorship (notably the Tribute stumps which can be seen at almost all League grounds on a Saturday afternoon). In total, we have raised more than £55k over the past two and a half years on top of our regular revenue. Our latest venture is to set up the Cornwall Cricket Trust, which we hope will generate substantial funding over the next few years.
Our Director of Finance who has masterminded this transformation, Chris Fyles, will be leaving us in March 2017 to take up a role with the new Cornwall Cricket Trust and so we need to find a successor. An accountancy qualification is not a must, but the successful candidate will clearly have a good affinity with numbers. Equally, you don’t need to be a cricket nut or even know much about the game. What we need is someone with the enthusiasm to drive the Board’s revenue generation for the next few years. We are convinced that diversity is a strength so are particularly keen to attract applications from women and ethnic minorities.
In terms of the time commitment, in many ways this voluntary position will be what you make it. There are 11 meetings of the Exec a year and 6 meetings of the full Board. On top of this there will be at least a few hours per month keeping our finances in their current excellent shape.
