Over 50's beat Dorset
Cornwall O50’s qualified for the ECB knockout stages with a fifth successive win which saw them beat Dorset at Truro by 8 wickets.
Rain in the morning delayed the start to 1.45 pm and reduced the match to 40 overs.
Putting Dorset in the Cornwall bowlers were on the receiving as the visitors raced to 54 in 8 overs. The introduction of Ian Bishop and Mike Hoban slowed the rate down but at drinks Dorset were handily placed at 107 for 0 from 20 overs.
Debutant Andrew Ellacott made the breakthrough with Andrew Jones taking a smart catch behind to break the partnership at 126 in the 25th over.
Having then got to 162 for 1 the Dorset innings stumbled to 224 for 8 with Paul Clements picking up 3 wickets.
Cornwall lost Nigel Sanders early on but a partnership of 101 in 18 overs between Jim McKenna and Anton Luiten set Cornwall up. McKenna fell for 79 but Luiten (88no) and Alan Shears (38no) saw Cornwall home with 5.3 overs to spare.
This was a third successful run chase in 2015 - all against prospective top 3 sides.
