Over 50's beat Devon
Cornwall O50’s made it 4 successive wins chasing down 263 at Grampound Road to beat Devon by 6 wickets. Scorecard
Devon won the toss and batted and should have lost Neil Murrin to his first ball from Ian Bishop when he was dropped behind. Murrin went on to make 98 as Devon from being 99 for 2 off 23 overs accelerated to 263 for 5 at the end of 45 overs.
There were debut wickets for Paul Clements and Alan Shears with Bishop 2-48 and Dave Dunnett 0-36 the pick of the other bowlers.
Needing probably their highest ever successful run chase target Cornwall raced to 90 off 13 overs with Jim McKenna and Jon Nance in full flow. McKenna (75) was given out stumped at 110 and Nance (34) at 122.
Nigel Sanders (58) and new boy Alan Shears (65) added 116 for the 3rd wicket before both falling to leave other new boy Paul Clements to hit 3 successive fours to win the game with 3.1 overs to spare.
Next up is Dorset at Bude on Sunday June 28th - 12 noon start.
With Andrew Jones, Danny Gillman and Steve Mitchell all available and Anton Luiten and John Dobson returning from injury the Cornwall selectors have some decisions to make.
