Over 50's hit 298 at Wiltshire
Put into bat the Cornwall opening pair of Jim McKenna and Jon Nance had 100 on the board in 20 overs before going on to create a new first wicket record for Cornwall of 187. The partnership ended in the 31st over when Nance was stumped for 58, his third successive score of 50+ since moving up to open.
McKenna reached his 2nd county ton with a driven six over extra cover and eventually fell lbw for 138. Anton Luiten (43no), Nigel Sanders (10) and Andrew Jones (29) added useful runs with skipper Trevor Lee coming in with one ball left needing 5 to reach 300. A well placed inside edge brought 3 to take Cornwall to 298 / 4.
In reply Wiltshire lost a couple of early wickets to debutant Danny Gillman and Dave Dunnett.
With Steve Mitchell, Dave Craddock and Mike Hoban coming into the attack the Wiltshire batsman were offered very few scoring opportunities and were never in the hunt.
They finished 185 for 8. Dunnett took 3 for 17, Gillman 2 for 39, Mitchell 2 for 23 and Hoban 1 for 39.
The next match is also the first home game of the season on Sunday June 21st v Devon at Grampound Road.
