Cornwall O50’s started the season with a disappointing defeat to Somerset at Taunton Deane.

Losing the toss new skipper Trevor Lee and his team did well to contain the home team batsman to 266 in 45 overs on a track that had yielded 2 scores in excessive of 400 the day before.

Cornwall’s usual lively start was curtailed when Lee dragged a ball on early, and with Jim McKenna mistiming an attempted drive the visitors were in trouble. Nigel Sanders and Anton Luiten built a partnership before Sanders cut a full toss to cover, Jon Nance stroked a full toss to mid on and Luiten ran himself out. Andrew Jones top scored with 43 as Cornwall were all out for 179

Next up is Hampshire on Wednesday followed by the Isle of Wight on Thursday.

The team are pictured before the Somerset match with new shirts sponsored by Cornwall Hospice Care. They also have lightweight jackets courtesy of Bodmin based Horizon Plastics.
